“Deceptive site ahead” warning – what to do

Phishing and malware detection are enabled by default in the majority of web browsers. The technology behind the screening is Google Safe Browsing.

A distinct, full-screen alert prevents a visitor from accessing a website that has been blacklisted by Google:

The most prevalent warning message is “Deceptive site ahead.” Additionally, the following variations are possible:

  • “Suspicious site”
  • “The site ahead contains harmful programs”
  • “This page is trying to load scripts from unauthenticated sources”
  • “Visiting this website may harm your computer”

Unfortunately, the majority of blacklisted websites are legitimate websites where hackers have inserted malicious content. Common reasons for being blacklisted include:

  • Your HTML or PHP code was hacked.
  • Using iframes or JavaScript, the redirects to infected and harmful websites were inserted.
  • Your website contains.swf files from Flash.

You can inspect specific links of your website with the help of your web developer. There is no issue from hosting end. You need to hire a web developer to check your site.

You can also use imunify360 option from cPanel to remove virus and malicious content from your cPanel.
