How to take WordPress backup and restore using updraft plugin?

For a website migration from one hosting to another hosting service the thing which comes in use is site backup & migration. So, in this post, I am going to share how to take WordPress website backup using updraft plugin and restoring the data.

For taking backup of the WordPress site to follow these simple steps –

  1. First of all install & activate UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore plugin from plugin menu in the WordPress dashboard.
  2. Then go to the settings menu and the then click on Updraft Plus Backups.
  3. Then select the settings menu of updraft plugin and there is the option of google drive, dropbox, one drive, Microsoft Azure, etc. So you can save your backup online at any place of your choice.
  4. Select any one of the online drives and click on the save changes option located at the below side of the page.
  5. A new window will get open, connect your drive there using your login details, and save the changes.
  6. Then again come to Backup/Restore option from the updraft plugin menu.
  7. Click on the Backup Now button. And select all 4 options to take a backup of all the files.
  8. Again click on backup now button and the backup process will get started.
  9. Wait for 2-3 minutes and your backup will automatically get created and uploaded on your online drive storage.

For Restoring Backup From Updraft Plug-in Follow These Steps –

  1. Install & Activate updraft plugin in your new WordPress dashboard.
  2. Then go to the settings menu and the then click on Updraft Plus Backups.
  3. Then select the settings menu of updraft plugin and there is the option of google drive, dropbox, one drive, Microsoft Azure, etc. Select the online drive on which you have created the backup.
  4. Click on the save changes button located at below side of the page.
  5. A new window will get open, connect your drive there using your login details, and save the changes.
  6. Then again come back to the Backup/Restore option from the updraft plugin menu.
  7. And click on scan remote storage option.
  8. It will show you your backup which you have placed on your online drive storage.
  9. Simply click on the restore button.
  10. It will ask you what things you want to restore. Select all things (themes, plugins, database) for the whole site restore.
